Zoals ieder jaar circuleren in de weken voor Valentijnsdag op het internet weer verschillende mailtjes en filmpjes waarin (voornamelijk) salafisten de gelovige moslims oproepen om geen Valentijnsdag te vieren. Het feest is volgens zeer orthodoxe moslims, net als de andere niet-islamitische feestdagen, haram. Het vieren van dergelijke feestdagen wordt beschouwd als een ongewenste vorm van bi’dah (vernieuwing). Bovendien zou het feest oproepen tot onwettige liefde (overspel). Onderstaand filmpje werd gestuurd aan de redactie van het Allochtonenweblog. De spreker is Sjeik Mohamed Hussein Yaqob, een salafistische prediker uit Egypte die volop gebruik maakt van nieuwe media en zijn boodschap in videofilms en mp3’s verspreidt. Diezelfde Sjeik Yacob, ook wel Yacoub, verklaarde een jaar geleden op Al-Rahma TV dat de joden moesten worden uitgeroeid. Volgens MEMRI verklaarde hij: "We must believe that our fighting with the Jews is eternal, and itwill not end until the final battle…You must believe that we willfight, defeat, and annihilate them, until not a single Jew remains onthe face of the Earth…As for you Jews – the curse of Allah upon you.The curse of Allah upon you, whose ancestors were apes and pigs. YouJews have sown hatred in our hearts, and we have bequeathed it to ourchildren and grandchildren. You will not survive as long as a singleone of us remains…Oh Jews, may the curse of Allah be upon you. OhJews… Oh Allah, bring Your wrath, punishment, and torment down uponthem. Allah, we pray that you transform them again, and make theMuslims rejoice again in seeing them as apes and pigs. You pigs of theearth! You pigs of the earth! You kill the Muslims with that cold pig[blood] of yours."
